SVHOA Board Meeting

Ø Board members present: Mike Recob, Joe Carroll, Matt Dana, Terry Emery, & Phil Raymond, Mike Sobczak, and John Nowosatka.

Ø We received Joe Carroll’s letter of resignation for his current position of RIC with the SVHOA. Terry Emery and Matt Dana are candidates that the board is looking at to replace Joe as RIC (effective 31JA06). The board discussed the role and responsibilities of the RIC. The board will use a majority vote to decide appoint the RIC.

o Mike Sobczak offered the opportunity if other board members were interested in the RIC position. The other members declined as they have already served as RIC, and would like fresh presence.

o If Matt is appointed as RIC, he said he would continue to act as treasurer until a new treasurer is appointed. Matt has another year to serve existing term.

o Mike Sobczak recommended Matt Dana as RIC, and that Terry take on the duties as Treasurer. (pending Terry’s acceptance).

o Joe recommended Terry as RIC as it would be the simplest transition.

o Terry accepted the Treasurer duties as well as the Supervisor of Officials, but said he will not be able to manage the website. The board will help on managing the website.

o Matt Dana will take the responsibilities as the SVHOA RIC.

Ø John Nowosatka would like to suggest that we award HS officials with more game assignments based on their performance and HS rating. (effective for next year). There is currently too many officials to spread the games evenly, and many officials may not be varsity ready. Need to have the board support this motion, and use the MHSAA Rating as a tool to help John assign HS games next season.

Ø We need to confirm the period times for the travel games w/ Dave Westner… Sq Travel (10Min), PW Travel (12min), Bantam Travel (12 min), Midget Travel (15 min) (Joe C. will contact Dave and post the times in Referees’ room)

MEMBERSHIP MEETING (51 in attendance)

Ø We received Joe Carroll’s letter of resignation. Congratulations to Joe and we wish him the best of luck with his new career and relocation. The entire SVHOA membership thanked Joe for his time and efforts in serving as our RIC. Matt Dana will assume the RIC position, and Terry Emery will assume Treasurer and Supervisor of Officials duties.

Ø The group reviewed several situations regarding coincidental penalties, what penalties are displayed on scoreboard and who goes in box.

Ø Atom and Mite games do use pegs nor water down the posts to help secure goal.

Ø Construction continues on the dressing rooms. Next Tuesday 10JA06, changes to the refs room will be initiated. Anticipate completion of the rooms to be end of March 2006.

Ø Next meeting scheduled: Tuesday, 07FE06, 7pm at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena.
