Membership Meeting (27 in attendance)
- Phil kicked-off the meeting with
introductions. All members present
introduced themselves.
- High School officials are to logon to
MSHAA.com for on-line rules meeting Oct 17th
- Matt Dana (RIC) was going to do some
training on the operation of our scheduling system
("Assignbyweb") with the group, but we had some technical
difficulties. He invited new
members to stay after the meeting for one-on-one training.
- When using "self assign",
do NOT put your name in
the 3rd spot for the game being displayed. If (3) officials show up to work the
game, the 1st (2) names gets the assignment.
- SVHOA Dues are waived for new members;
$5 for Level 1, and $10 for level 2-4
- SVHOA administrative fee is 6% of each
check per month to cover the annual stipend for the RIC and Treasurer at
year end.
- Men's C league games will have the
option of playing "slap shots", but it must be mutually agreed
upon by both team coaches prior to the start of the game. (Tim Langschwager – Chairman for the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena Men's League)
- Helmet Removal situations:
- If a player removes his/her helmet
during an altercation, he will be assessed a game misconduct in
addition to any other penalties he incurs.
- Note - in the example above, an "Altercation"
means that a penalty has already occurred.
- If a player removes the helmet of an
opposing player, he will be assessed a game misconduct in addition to any
other penalties he incurs.
- If a player in the Youth leagues
loses his/her helmet, or it becomes dislodged during play, an IMMEDIATE
whistle should stop play. That
player can retrieve their helmet, but must leave the ice, and can not
re-enter the game until play resumes.
- Major Penalties:
- The new rule this year is that the
coach does not have to immediately put a replacement player in the
penalty box to serve another player's major penalty. However, the replacement player must be
in the penalty box before the 5-minutes expire in order to legally return
to the ice during play to bring his team to full strength.
- Q&A
- Delayed penalty situations:
- If you forget the offending player's
# that you had a delayed penalty signaled, check with your partner 1st;
if he can not help you, go to the captain or coach and explain the
infraction you were calling but do not remember player's #. If they do not help you, take the
captain or your best pick from the ice.
- If a goal is scored on a delayed
penalty, you must report the penalty to the scorekeeper.
- In the Men's leagues, (4) penalties
assessed to a player in the same game will be automatic game misconduct
from that game.
- "Checking" in the Men's
league is a 5 minute major plus game misconduct.
- Next meeting: Tuesday
11/3/09 6:30 pm at Saginaw
Bay Ice Arena
