SVHOA Board Meeting (6pm)

Ø Board members present: Matt Dana, Michael Recob, Michael Sobczak, Phil Raymond, Terry Emery, Eric Nowosatka, and Nick Horn.

Ø Pay Rates for next two year term (2007-2009)

Ø Evaluation Program – need to energize our efforts in completing official evaluations. M. Recob made several copies of the evaluation forms and will post them on the bulletin board. Level 3 officials are encouraged to fill out evaluation forms if they are at the rink watching a game where new / younger officials are working. We owe it to our new officials to help them in with their positioning, appearance, game calling techniques, etc.

Ø Topics to be discussed tonight based on last months observations:

o Tripping in the Mite & Squirt divisions

o Quick face-off procedure

o Positioning

SVHOA Membership Meeting (6:30 pm) (43 in attendance)

Ø Suspended players and coaches are not allowed on the bench, penalty bench, or the time-keepers box.

Ø Officials are reminded not to wear jewelry or watches

Ø Quick face-off technique. Supposed to be using it in Mites on up. DO IT!

Ø Postion..Position..Position.. Refer to your books; many officials are getting lazy.

Ø If a player leaves his feet to play puck and takes down the opposing player, it’s TRIPPING….Call it! It does not matter if he hits the puck first…

Ø Scheduling on the web… check your schedule regularly and get an answer back to Matt ASAP ( no less than 3 days before the assignment)

Ø Checks can be obtained from Terry at the Thelen Dealership in Bay City.

Ø Zero Tolerance – call it, especially if players are cursing at you. If you are allowing it, then you are not doing your job.

Ø If any official is interested in being critiqued, please ask one of the senior officials. Anytime you have a question, please ask it. Anything that will make you a better official should be in your interest…It certainly is in ours!

Ø M. Recob will post the officials roster with phone numbers in the ref’s room.

Ø When the playoffs begin, pay attention to the bulletin board for special game instructions (for example OT)
