  • Topics to discuss in meeting: stick from the bench, “quick face-off” process

 

SVHOA Membership Meeting  (36 in attendance)

  • Friendship Tournament went very well, and those that worked those games have our appreciation.  Good job to all… One case of improper dress code. (jeans were not to be worn)
  • An official had his wallet stolen from the ref’s room during a midget game.  We will pursue getting a key-punch lock for the door.
  • A player can take a stick out to his teammate as long as he does not participate in the play.
  • Quick face-off process was reviewed with the group. Many officials are going through the motions, but not correctly.  Once play stops at a whistle, the outside official will take his position at the blue line, look at the visitors’ bench, and after 7 seconds his arm goes up directed at the visitors’ bench to indicate that their line changes are done. He then looks at the home bench and within 5 seconds their line changes are done. Then he can point to his partner indicating to conduct the face-off, and within 5 seconds he blows his whistle and drops the puck. Talk to the centers to get in them into position. If they are taking to long, toss the slow center out.  Hopefully the centers will get the message.  Be consistent, and vigilant with your process.
  • Dave Westner had some games added to the schedule that Matt Dana got covered in the meeting.
  • In order to coach from the bench, the coach is supposed to have his certification # on the score-sheet, and present his card if asked by the official.  If a coach or asst. coach does not present his card nor has his # on the score-sheet, he can not coach the team and must vacate the bench.  He could serve as the penalty bench attendant, but no coaching.
